Business Data
Business Data
Business Data is mainly concerned with the targeted profiling of businesses and the listing of critical people with decision making power such as purchasing or sales directors. Business data lists or B2B data may include company type, size, activities, location, contact names, position, contact details and may cover financial data and credit worthiness. The number of companies offering simple contact databases dominates and features data brokers as well as data compilers. Aside from traditional yellow pages, online databases have gained share over time and have become quite visible, however the quality of the data, its relevance and freshness (business data ages very quickly) have become so critical to users that a number of data players have been adding scrubbing services also known as data cleansing. The customisation, relevance, quality and granulation of data doesn’t feature high in those “off the shelf” offerings where data users all appear to purchase the exact same generic data, some of which has been collected from public databases such as chambers of commerce and marginally improved using information collected from professional networks such as LinkedIn.
